08 June 2021 – ILOCOS REGION. More than one million Filipinos have completed Step 1 Registration of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in Ilocos Region.
As of 30 April 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA – RSSO I) has recorded 1,066,867 individuals who have completed Step 1 of the PhilSys registration in the region. The first step involves the house-to-house collection of demographic information of a sample of low-income household heads.
The provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan started the Step 1 registration in October last year. On the other hand, the province of Ilocos Norte commenced the first step of PhilSys early this year.
Step 2 of the three-step registration process for the PhilSys involves the capturing the registrant’s biometric data such as iris scan, fingerprint scan, and front-face photograph at identified registration centers. Finally, Step 3 will involve the issuance of the PhilSys Number and the ID card.
