The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – La Union Provincial Statistical Office has marked another milestone for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as it achieved a total of 16,235 registrants as of July 31, 2021 under the Step 1 Online Registration which started operation on June 1, 2021.

In La Union, PhilSys Registration Centers open for online appointment booking include the Local Government Unit (LGU)-Based Registration Center and PhilSys Fixed Registration Center (FRC) located at the City of San Fernando, and LGU-Based Registration Center in the municipalities of Rosario, Bauang, San Juan, Santo Tomas. Registrants who reside in said selected city/municipalities for online registration may visit https://register.philsys.gov.ph to register and book appointment schedule for their Step 2 Registration.

The online registration process is the first step to be done by a registrant before proceeding to Step 2 Registration which involves the capturing of registrant’s biometric information and validation of demographic data. From house-to-house PhilSys Step 1 Registration data collection of demographic information that started in the province on October 12, 2020, PSA launched the online registration site on April 30, 2021 to expand Step 1 Registration services nationwide to allow more Filipinos to complete the registration process.

Online booking of appointment aims to minimize the threat brought by the Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and to ensure that a manageable number of registrants will visit the registration center with their preferred schedule during Step 2 Registration operating hours. Additionally, PSA strongly advises the registrants to strictly follow their preferred schedule and abide with the health and safety protocols laid by the LGU for a smooth PhilSys transaction at the Registration Centers.

A total of 21 Registration Centers including FRC are established in each of the city/municipality in the province. However, with the reduced number of kits starting on the PhilSys step 2 Phase 2 registration, some municipalities were clustered and take turn on their agreed schedule.

Clustered LGU-based Registration Centers in the province are the following: Sudipen, Bangar, Luna;Balaoan, Santol; Bacnotan, San Gabriel; Naguilian, Bagulin, Burgos; Caba, Aringay; and Santo Tomas, Pugo, Tubao.

The implementation of PhilSys continuously progress through the unwavering support of all LGUs in the province, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the dedicated 126 PSA PhilSys registration personnel deployed in each registration center in the province who provide quality service to all PhilSys registrants while ensuring that health and safety protocols are strictly implemented during PhilSys Step 2 operation.
