The total registration to Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the Province of Ilocos Norte as of April 30, 2024, was posted at 498, 434, or 94.09 percent of the province’s total population based on the results of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing.
From the start of the year up to the reference month, the Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) had successfully conducted 437 mobile registrations in Barangay Halls and 57 institutional registrations in schools. Three co-location activities with other National Government Agencies were also attended by the PhilSys team. The deployment strategy of the PSO this year also highlights the partnership of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in registering beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) during Family Development Sessions.
With regards to the annual accomplishments of the PSO, the highest number of registrations was posted at 264, 467 in 2021, followed by the output in 2022 totaling to 188, 789, and down to 25, 043 in 2023. For 2024, the registration count in the PSO as of April 2024 was 20, 135. A higher output in the current year compared with the previous year is expected since the registration of 1 to 4 years old was already launched in May.
Aside from the registration service, the PSO also provided other services to clients during mobile and institutional registration such as printing of electronic PhilID (ePhilID), replacement of damaged PhilID card, retrieval of transaction reference number, and assistance in tracking the status of the PhilID card delivery.
In line with the campaign of ensuring inclusivity of PhilSys and providing equal registration opportunity to each Filipino, the PSO had undertaken continuous efforts in reaching out constituents of far-flung areas, senior citizens, Person with Disabilities, and Indigenous Peoples.
The PhilSys registration is pursuant to Republic Act No. 11055, or the Philippine Identification Act, which aims to establish a single national identification system for all citizens and resident aliens of the Republic of the Philippines. The valid proof of identity provided by the PhilSys shall be means of simplifying public and private transactions and shall be a social and economic platform that promotes seamless social service delivery and strengthens financial inclusion for both public and private services.
