ILOCOS REGION. Lola Panyang, a 99-year-old resident of Aguilar, Pangasinan, is the oldest beneficiary of the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) in the country.

During the awarding ceremony arranged by the Municipal Civil Registry Office, she joyfully received her Certificate of Live Birth (COLB) printed in Security Paper (SECPA) from RSSO I Regional Director (RD) Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman, Chief Statistical Specialist Edgar M. Norberte, and officials from the said municipality.

As of this writing, Lola Panyang is one of the 227 beneficiaries in the province who received his/her COLBs printed in SECPA through the said project.

This year, the PBRAP aims to register the birth records of around 48,000 individuals from Ilocos Region belonging in marginalized communities, Indigenous People, Muslim Filipinos, from the poorest sector, and persons currently living outside their place of birth.

In addition, this activity is aligned with the commitment on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Decade for the birth registration of 99.5 percent of Filipinos by the end of 2024.
