As of 31 March 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has successfully delivered and issued a combined 540,856 Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards and printed electronic PhilID (ePhilIDs) in La Union through the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) and PSA ePhilID delivery teams.

Of the total delivered in La Union, 406,722 were PhiIIDs while 134,134 were printed ePhilIDs.  The total number of delivered PhilIDs and ePhilIDs is now close to the total PhilSys Step 2 registered Filipinos in the province recorded at 633,085 as of 31 March 2023.   This milestone is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the PHLPost for the production and delivery of PhilIDs, and strategies of PSA – La Union in the delivery of ePhilIDs. This also demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing accessible and efficient services to its citizens through the cooperation of the Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), private sector, and other stakeholders.

As the PSA continues to implement the PhilSys, Filipinos are assured that there is a card allocated for all registered persons and that they will still receive their PhilID cards even they have claimed their printed ePhilIDs. The PSA also continues its efforts towards more efficient card printing and delivery to accommodate more Filipinos who have successfully registered for Step 1 and Step 2.

The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) is a government initiative that aims to provide a valid proof of identity for all Filipinos, making it easier for them to access various social services and transactions.  PSA-La Union recognizes the importance of this initiative and continues to extend its efforts to cover the unregistered population 5 years old and over in the province through its dedicated personnel and with the unwavering support of the LGUs, NGAs, and the private sector.

The ePhilID is a proactive strategy of the PSA to ensure that registered persons can immediately enjoy the benefits of being registered to PhilSys and complement the card production strategy. The ePhilID has the same validity and functionality as the PhilID card.  It contains a unique digital signature found in its QR code, which should be used for authentication via PhilSys Check.
