The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) La Union Provincial Statistical Office reports that as of February 28, 2022, 18,368 Filipinos in La Union have completed their Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 Registration adding to the 529,933 registrants in 2021 or a total of 548,301 registrants who finished the PhilSys Step 2 registration in the province.

Those who underwent the PhilSys Step 2 registration had their demographic information validated and biometric information collected, such as their front-facing photo, iris scan, and fingerprints at registration centers in La Union.

During the PhilSys Step 2 registration, registrants are required to present their primary supporting documents to validate their provided information.  This includes the PSA-issued Certificate of Live Birth, Department of Foreign Affairs-issued Philippine Passport or ePassport, Government Service Insurance System or Social Security System–issued Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card (UMID), and Land Transportation Office (LTO)-issued Student’s License Permit or Non-Professional/Professional Driver’s License.  In the absence of a primary ID or document, the registrant may show a secondary document.  The list of secondary documents can be accessed at https://www.philsys.gov.ph/supporting-documents/.

The PSA continuously implements its Step 2 Registration operations at the PSA Fix Registration Center and Local Government Unit (LGU) – based registration centers along with mobile and institutional registrations in coordination with the LGUs, National Government Agencies (NGAs), private institutions, and the academe to bring the registration experience closer to Filipinos. PhilSys Step 2 Registration operations are strictly adhering to health and safety protocols following the guidelines set by the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Moreover, PSA – La Union also continues its partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines for the applications of bank accounts through a colocation strategy at the PhilSys registration centers.  This will help promote financial inclusion, improve the targeting of beneficiaries, and accelerate the delivery of government social protection programs for all Filipinos.
