Marriage ceremonies decrease by 10 percent
  • There was a decrease of 10 percent in the registered marriages from February 2019 to February 2020 or from 3,086 to 2,792.
  • All provinces in the region decreased in the number of registered marriages from 2019 to 2020.
  • Ilocos Sur showed the biggest decrease in the number of registered marriages at 20 percent.
  • Pangasinan had the most number of registered marriages (1,874) for February 2020 that is translated to a 67 percentage share to the region.
  • La Union ranked second with the most number of registered marriages (354).
  • Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte followed with 333 registered marriages and 231 registered marriages, respectively.
Civil marriages highest in February 2020
  • There were 1,799 registered marriages through Civil ceremonies for February 2020. The highest number of registered marriages among other types of ceremony.
  • Roman Catholic Church ceremonies followed at 633 registered marriages.
  • Six Muslim marriages were registered this month.
 
Teenage brides reached almost two hundred this month
  • There were 197 teenage brides who were registered this February 2020
  • The median age of brides based from the registered marriages this first quarter was at 27 years old. This means that half the number of brides was younger than 27 years old and half was older than 27 years old.
  • The grooms had a median age of 24 years old.
  • Most brides belong in the age groups 20 to 24 and 25 to 29, each contributing 31 percent of the total number.
  • The highest number of grooms was from the age group 25 lo 29 that is 35 percent of the total number.

Pangasinan covers 9 slots in the top 10 city/municipality with most registered marriages
  • In Region 1, Lingayen, Pangasinan ranked first with 168 registered marriages in February 2020.
  • This was followed by Bayambang, Pangasinan with 116 registered marriages then City of Alaminos, Pangasinan with 103; Tayug, Pangasinan with 93; and Malasiqui, Pangasinan with 86.
  • Bugallon, Mangatarem, and Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan followed with 82,80 and 80 registered marriages, respectively.
  • In Ilocos Norte, municipalities of Carasi and Nueva Era recorded the least with one registered marriage each.
  • Gregorio Del Pilar, Nagbukel, Quirino, Sigay and Sugpon llocos Sur also recorded one marriage each for February.
  • Meanwhile, one registered marriage was also recorded in the municipalities of Burgos, La Union; Dasol, Pangasinan; and Sto. Tomas Pangasinan.
