Data on marriages presented in this release were obtained from the Certificates of Marriage (Municipal Form 97) that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Offices in Ilocos Region. Information included marriages registered in August 2019 and in August 2020.
 
Marriage ceremonies decrease by 45 percent
  • There were 565 registered marriages in August 2020, showing a decrease of 40 percent from August 2019.
  • The decrease in number of registered marriages was observed in all provinces of the region from August 2019 to August 2020.
  • Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur had the biggest decrease in the number of registered marriages (57 percent).
  • Pangasinan had the most number of registered marriages (357) for August 2020 that is translated to a 63 percentage share to the region.
  • La Union ranked second with the most number of registered marriages (87).
  • Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur followed with 61 registered marriages and 60 registered marriages, respectively.
 
 
Civil rites highest in August 2020
  • There were 349 registered marriages through Civil rites for August 2020. The highest number of registered marriages among other types of ceremony.
  • Roman Catholic ceremonies followed at 121 registered marriages.
  • Five Muslim marriages were registered this month.
 
 
Teenage brides reached more than seventy this month
  • There were 15 teenage brides who were registered this August 2020.
  • The median age of brides based from the registered marriages this month was at 22 years old. This means that half the number of brides was younger than 22 years old and half was older than 22 years old.
  • The grooms had a median age of 27 years old.
  • Most brides belong in the age group 25 to 29 that is 45 percent of the total number.
  • The highest number of grooms was also from the age group 25 to 29 that is 42 percent of the total number.
