Marriage ceremonies decrease by 38 percent  

• There were 3,045 registered marriages during the fourth quarter of 2020, showing a decrease of 38 percent from the fourth quarter of 2019.
• All provinces in the region decreased in the number of registered marriages in fourth quarter of 2020 compared to fourth quarter of 2019.  
• La Union had the biggest decrease in the number of registered marriages (44 percent) followed by Ilocos Norte at 43 percent, Pangasinan at 40 percent and Ilocos Sur  decreased by 21 percent.
• Pangasinan had the most number of registered marriages for the 4^th quarter of 2020 that is translated to a 58 percentage share to the region.  
• The rest of provinces in the region registered less than five hundred marriages  for the 4^th quarter of 2020.

Daily average number of registered marriages down to twelve

• The daily average number of registered marriages decreased from 4^th quarter of 2019 to 4^th quarter of 2020 by 38 percent.   It was noted that in 2019, the daily average number of registered marriages was at 54.  In 2020, the average was at 33 registered marriages per day.
• In October 2020, the daily average number of registered marriages decreased by 41 percent from October 2019.  
• The daily average number of registered marriages in November 2020 dropped to 18 that is translated to 47 percent from 2019 to 2020.

Marriages highest in December this quarter

• In the fourth quarter of 2020, there were 3,045 registered marriages.  Most registered marriages were in December (1,812 marriages).
• In October, there were 706 registered marriages while in November, there were 527 registered marriages.  

 Civil rites highest in the fourth quarter of 2020

• There were 1,541 registered marriages through Civil rites for the fourth quarter of 2020.  It is the highest number of registered marriages among other types of ceremony.
• Roman Catholic followed at 870 registered marriages.
• Eight Muslim marriages were registered during the quarter.

Teenage brides reached more than one hundred this quarter

• There were 117 teenage brides that were registered in the fourth quarter of 2020.
• The median age of brides based from the registered marriages in the fourth quarter of 2020 was at 27 years old.  This means that half the number of brides was younger than  27 years old and half was older than 27 years old.
• The grooms had a median age of 28 years old. 
• Most brides belong in the age group 25 to 29 that is 42 percent of the total  number.
• The highest number of grooms was also from the age group 25 to 29 that is 43 percent of the total number.
