Marriage ceremonies decrease by 53 percent  

  • There was a decrease of 53 percent in the registered marriages in February 2021. From 2,792 registered marriages in February 2020, Ilocos Region only registered 1,299 marriages in February 2021.
  • All provinces in the region decreased in the number of registered marriages in February 2021.
  • Pangasinan showed the biggest decrease in the number of registered marriages  at 62 percent.
  • Pangasinan had the greatest number of registered marriages in February 2021.It has 55 percentage share to the region’s registered marriages.  
  • Ilocos Sur ranked second with the greatest number of registered marriages at 20 percent (256 marriages).
  • La Union and Ilocos Norte followed with 16 (212 marriages) and 9 percent (122 marriages), respectively.

Civil marriages highest in February 2021

  • There were 658 registered marriages through Civil ceremonies in February 2021.  It is the highest number of registered marriages among other types of ceremony.
  • Roman Catholic Church ceremonies followed at 452 registered marriages.
  • Seven Muslim marriages were registered this month.

Teenage brides reached almost a hundred in February 2021

  • There were 71 teenage brides who were registered in February 2021.
  • The median age of brides based from the registered marriages in February 2021 was at 27 years old.  This means that half the number of brides was younger than 27 years old and half was older than 27 years old.
  • The grooms had a median age of 28 years old also. 
  • Most brides belong in the age group 25 to 29, contributing 39 percent of the total number.
  • The highest number of grooms was from the age group 25 to 29 that is 40 percent of the total number.  

Pangasinan covers 4 slots in the top 10 city/municipality with most registered marriages

  • In Region I, Dagupan City, Pangasinan ranked first with 54 registered marriages in February 2021.
  • This was followed by Balaoan, La Union with 47 registered marriages then  San Carlos City, Pangasinan with 46, City of Candon, Ilocos Sur with 43, City of Urdaneta, Pangasinan with 37 and Tagudin, Ilocos Sur with 35.
  • Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and Lingayen, Pangasinan both followed with 33, then Caoayan, Ilocos Sur and City of San Fernando, La Union both followed with 32 marriages.
  • In Ilocos Norte, municipalities of Burgos, Currimao and Pinili recorded with one registered marriage each.
  • In Ilocos Sur, municipalities of Cabugao, San Emilio, Santa Maria and Sigay also recorded one marriage each in February 2021.
  • Burgos, La Union also recorded one marriage in February 2021.
