The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) of La Union held a two-day seminar-workshop entitled, "Virtual-Seminar Workshop on Technical Writing Course for Statistical Reports" on September 8-9, 2022 that aimed to equip the province's statistical workforce with the technical and operational requirements of statistical work, specifically in technical writing.

 

Dr. Jun S. Camara, Dean of Pangasinan State University College of Education, was invited as the resource speaker for the said seminar-workshop. Dr. Camara discussed the Introduction to Technical Reports; Introduction to Research Journal Writing; How to Write Statistical Reports; Basic Technical Writing Techniques; and Technical Writing using the American Psychological Association (APA) Format.  A workshop followed to check on the participants’ learnings of the topics discussed. 

 

The seminar-workshop supports one of the Provincial Statistical System's (PrSS) strategic thrusts – the enhancement of skills towards the increased technical capacity of human resources particularly those handling statistical work to respond to the current and emerging needs and demands.  Capacity building activities among these personnel involved in the compilation of statistics will contribute to better presentation of statistical reports.

 

Participants of the seminar workshop were members of the PSC and representatives from line agencies and the academe that included the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Information Office (PIO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Treasury Office (PTO), Provincial Environmental and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), and the Local Government Units (LGUs).

 

The PSC commits itself to sustain its efforts to improve the PrSS to better serve its stakeholders by enabling informed and responsible planning and evidence-based decision-making in every aspect of development.
