The employment rate of the Ilocos Region in October 2020 was estimated at 88.5 percent. This was lower by 6.3 percentage points compared with the 94.8 percent employment rate of the region in October 2019. However, it increased by 10.8 percentage points from the 77.7 percent low employment rate in April 2020.

The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in October 2020 was 61.7 percent, a decline of 1.5 percentage points from the 63.2 percent in October 2019. However, the LFPR in October 2020 was higher compared to the 60.8 percent rate in April 2020.

The underemployment rate of the region in October 2020 declined to 16.7 percent from 16.9 percent and 20.7 percent rates in October 2019 and April 2020, respectively.

The region’s unemployment rate was estimated at 11.5 percent in October 2020. The unemployment rate of the region in October 2019 was estimated at 5.2 percent.

Across regions, Ilocos Region posted the second-lowest employment rate in October 2020. The National Capital Region (NCR) posted the lowest employment rate at 87.6 percent, while Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) recorded the highest with 96.6 percent employment rate.
