Vital statistics based on civil registration showed that Ilocos Region registered 32,210 live births from January to July 2022, a slight decline of 0.05 percent compared to same period of 2021.  This showed a 152 average daily live births registered during these period in 2022.

On the other hand, figure 2 below showed that the highest number of live births were registered during the month of January 2022 at 5,424.  This was followed by the months of March and April.  Meanwhile, the lowest number of registered births was recorded in July 2022.

Meanwhile, the province of Pangasinan remained to have the highest number of registered live births during the period with a total of 21,007. This accounted 65.2 percent of the total live births registered in the region from January to July 2022.  Meanwhile, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte shared 14.0, 10.5, and 10.2 percent respectively. 

All of the provinces in the region recorded lower registered live births from January to July 2022, except Pangasinan which recorded an increase of 3.29 percent compared to the same period of 2021.  On the other hand, Ilocos Sur recorded the highest decline on the number of registered live birth at 10.61 percent, while La Union and Ilocos Norte decreased by 4.93 and 1.43 percent, respectively.

Corollary, Pangasinan recorded the highest average daily live births registered from January to July 2022 at 99 births.  On the other hand, the 4,509 registered live births of La Union recorded an average of 21 daily live births registered, while Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte had an average of 16 daily live births registered per day. 

On the other hand, all the provinces in the region recorded the highest registered live births in January 2022.  Though the number of registered live births declined in February 2022, all of the provinces, except Ilocos Norte, recorded an uptick during March 2022.  Moreover, all the provinces recorded the lowest number of registered live births during the month of July 2022.
