The Ilocos Region kicks-off the 33rd celebration of the Civil Registration Month (CRM) with the theme, “PSA @10: Providing Efficient and Effective Civil Registration and Vital Statistics through Digital Transformation.”

Presidential Proclamation No. 682, S. 1991 by then President Corazon C. Aquino declares the month of February of every year as the Civil Registration Month to remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons. The CRM also aims to instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative, and statistical values of civil registry documents and underscore the necessity to provide adequate funds for the enforcement and administration of laws on civil registration.

For this year’s celebration, the Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) with its Provincial Statistical Offices lined-up activities such as motorcade, training on Civil Registration, radio interviews, CRM Public Forum, free issuance of Civil Registry documents to select individuals, and Civil Registration Quiz Bee. Likewise, in support of the CRM, the Sub-National Inter-Agency Committee on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (IACCRVS) for Ilocos Region passed Resolution No. 3, S. 2023 enjoining Regional Line Agencies, Local Government Units, and Private Sector to support the 2023 CRM celebration in the region. The stakeholders are encouraged to conduct activities such as hanging of streamer, posting of CRM social media cards, conduct of symposiums/training/conferences on Civil Registration, information dissemination activities, and other activities that promotes and advocates civil registration and vital statistics.
