The Ilocos Norte Provincial Statistical Office successfully registered a total of 491, 879 Filipinos with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) at the end of the first quarter of 2024.

During the reference quarter, the PSO continuously carried out registration strategies to ensure that PhilSys services are accessible and convenient to clients particularly those who are living in far flung areas and households who have limited internet access.  Among the registration strategies that were conducted by the PhilSys team are mobile registrations in barangay halls, school registrations and participation in activities of other government agencies.

The accomplishment of the PSO includes the registration of children ages 1 to 4 years old. The registration of this age group was launched in the province in February 2024 which allows children to be registered with their demographic information and front-facing photograph provided that the accompanying parent/s or guardian is PhilSys-registered prior to the registration of the child.

The partnership of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in registering beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is also one of the major undertakings in the first quarter of this year.

With the goal of registering all residents of the province with PhilSys, Ilocos Norte PSO continuously coordinates with the Local Government Units to reach out unregistered individuals. The PSO is targeting two rounds of mobile registration in all barangay halls in the province this year. The clients who will not be able to attend the scheduled mobile registration may visit the PhilSys Fixed Registration Center at IT Bar Building, Brgy. 1, San Francisco, San Nicolas from Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

PhilSys-registered individuals are entitled to three types of identification cards: the physical PhilID card; the printable electronic PhilID (ePhilID); and the digital ID. These are all valid proofs of identity and shall be means of simplifying public and private transactions and shall be a social and economic platform that promotes seamless social service delivery and strengthens financial inclusion for both public and private services.
