Household population comprises 99.92 percent of the total population

  • As of 01 May 2020, San Juan, La Union had a total population of 40,507 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.92 percent or 40,473 persons. This is 3.39 thousand higher than the 37,082 household population in 2015, and 5.41 thousand more than the 35,062 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

  • The remaining 0.08 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

 

Number of households increased by 1.37 thousand from 8.71 thousand in 2015 to 10.08 thousand in 2020

  • The total number of households in San Juan, La Union reached 10,080 in 2020. This is higher by 1.37 thousand compared with the 8,714 households in 2015 and by 2.34 thousand compared with 7,737 households in 2010. (Table B)

 

One in every five households in the municipality are in Barangays Ili Norte (Pob.), Taboc, and Ili Sur (Pob.)

  • Among the 41 barangays of the municipality, Ili Norte (Pob.) had the most number of households in 2020 with 725, followed by Taboc with 720, and Ili Sur (Pob.) with 633. These three barangays comprised 20.62 percent of the total households in the municipality. The barangay of Allangigan posted the least number of households with 52 households.

 

Average household size declines to 4.0 persons in 2020

  • The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.3 persons in 2015 to 4.0 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.5 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

  • Nineteen out of 41 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 4.0 persons.
