Household population comprises 99.91 percent of the total population

  • As of 01 May 2020, Naguilian, La Union had a total population of 52,189 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.91 percent or 52,143 persons. This is 2.02 thousand lower than the 54,159 household population in 2015, and 3.85 thousand more than the 48,294 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

  • The remaining 0.09 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

 

Number of households increased by 0.75 thousand from 12.16 thousand in 2015 to 12.92 thousand in 2020

  • The total number of households in Naguilian, La Union reached 12,915 in 2020. This is higher by 0.75 thousand compared with the 12,161 households in 2015 and by 2.16 thousand compared with 10,753 households in 2010. (Table B)

 

One in every five households in the municipality are in Barangays Baraoas Sur, Natividad (Pob.), Ortiz (Pob.), and Bariquir

  • Among the 37 barangays, Baraoas Sur had the most number of households in 2020 with 844, followed by Natividad (Pob.) with 744, Ortiz (Pob.) with 706, and Bariquir with 539. These four barangays comprised 21.94 percent of the total households in the municipality. The barangay of Cabaritan Norte posted the least number of households with 127 households.

 

Average household size declines to 4.0 persons in 2020

  • The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.5 persons in 2015 to 4.0 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.5 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

  • Seventeen out of 37 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 4.0 persons.
