Household population comprises 99.97 percent of the total population

• As of 01 May 2020, Bacnotan, La Union had a total population of 44,388 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.97 percent or 44,374 persons. This is 2.42 thousand higher than the 41,954 household population in 2015, and 4.11 thousand more than the 40,268 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

• The remaining 0.03 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

Number of households increased by 1.71 thousand from 9.96 thousand in 2015 to 11.68 thousand in 2020

• The total number of households in Bacnotan, La Union reached 11,675 in 2020. This is higher by 1.71 thousand compared with the 9,963 households in 2015 and by 2.44 thousand compared with 9,235 households in 2010. (Table B)

One in every five households in the municipality are in Barangay Poblacion, Baroro, Cabaroan, and Bitalag

• Among the 47 barangays, Poblacion had the most number of households in 2020 with 945, followed by Baroro with 725, Cabaroan with 487 and Bitalag with 407. These four barangays comprised 21.96 percent of the total households in the municipality. The barangay of Pang-pang posted the least number of households with 74 households.

Average household size declines to 3.8 persons in 2020

• The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.2 persons in 2015 to 3.8 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.4 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

• Eighteen out of 47 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 3.8 persons.
