Household population comprises about one hundred percent of the total population

  • As of 01 May 2020, Aringay, La Union had a total population of 50,380 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.998 percent or 50,379 persons. This is 2.96 thousand higher than the 47,422 household population in 2015, and 5.44 thousand more than the 44,939 household population posted in 2010. (Table A)

  • There was only one recorded institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters such as hospitals, orphanages, and military camps; and of Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

 

Number of households increase by 1.42 thousand from 10.82 thousand in 2015 to 12.24 thousand in 2020

  • The total number of households in Aringay, La Union reached 12,237 in 2020. This is higher by 1.42 thousand compared with the 10,817 households in 2015 and by 2.50 thousand compared with 9,739 households in 2010. (Table B)

 

One in every five households in the municipality are in Barangay San Eugenio, San Benito Sur, and Dulao

  • Among the 24 barangays, San Eugenio had the most number of households in 2020 with 1,082, followed by San Benito Sur with 939, and Dulao with 894. These three barangays comprised 23.82 percent of the total number of households in the municipality. The barangay of Pangao-aoan West posted the least number of households with 216 households.

 

Average household size declines to 4.1 persons in 2020

  • The average household size (AHS) of the municipality decreased from 4.4 persons in 2015 to 4.1 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.6 persons, on average, per household. (Table C and Figure 1)

  • 9 out of 24 barangays posted an AHS higher than the municipality’s AHS of 4.1 persons.
