The year 2023 marked a noteworthy achievement and triumphant undertaking for the Ilocos Region, particularly its field personnel, who assiduously overcame all challenges to increase the number of individuals registered on PhilSys and helped the country reach the 83 million target. The implementation of effective strategies to encourage widespread participation was necessary to increase the number of PhilSys Step 2 registration in the region. The following strategies used include:

a)    Public Awareness Campaigns: Social media cards/ infographics were posted/ shared on the agency’s Facebook page and website, pamphlets/ brochures and other advocacy materials were distributed, public forums were conducted/ attended, and served as resource speakers to various media outlets and other programs to inform the public about the significance and advantages of obtaining national ID as well as to highlight its applicability and potential benefits, like expedited government services and increased security;

b)    Community Engagement: Participated in the conduct of community outreach programs in both urban and rural areas and collaborated with local leaders and community organizations;

c)    PhilSys on Wheels (POWs): Mobile registration units that are established and capable of reaching remote or distant locations. This method made it more convenient for people who might have trouble getting to the designated registration locations;

d)    School Registrations: This entailed putting up registration booths on campuses to facilitate mass registration while making it more convenient for students;

e)    Collaboration with Government Agencies: Worked with other government organizations to incorporate the national ID registration procedure into already-available services; and

f)    Feedback Mechanism: To continuously evaluate the registration process, identify public issues, and address challenges and concerns raised, a feedback mechanism was established.

The resolute dedication and commitment of all field personnel in the region to ensuring that PhilSys is available and accessible to every Filipino, wherever they may be, is a true testament to the organization’s mandate to deliver effective and inclusive government services.

As we embrace the new chapter of 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) will continue its services to ensure that no one will be left behind.
