Registered deaths in all provinces decreased this month

  • Ilocos Region registered a total of 3,156 deaths in December 2020.

  • Pangasinan topeed the highest number of deaths. Its share was more than half (59 percent) of the total registered deaths om tje region at 1,854 deaths.

  • La Union ranked second with 499 deaths (16 percent).

  • Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte followed with 418 deaths (16 percent) and 385 (12 percent), respectively.

  • Ilocos Norte and La Union, the number of deaths decreased from 2019 to 2020. On the other hand, Ilocos Sur and Pangasinan had increased number of deaths.

Males outnumber females in terms of registered deaths

  • Males (1,799) outnumbered females (1,377) in terms of registered deaths  in December 2020.

  • In all provinces, there were more deaths in males than in females.

  • Pangasinan had the most number of registered male deaths with 1,055.  La Union followed at 276 registered deaths.   

  • Most registered female deaths were also observed in Pangasinan with 799 deaths. La Union followed at 223 female deaths.

Deaths in the region were mostly medically attended

  • There were 1,396 total registered deaths that were attended by medical practitioners.

  • Deaths that were not medically attended reached up to 1,570.

Percentage of deaths attended by health professionals highest in La Union  

  • La Union had the highest percentage of recorded deaths attended by health professionals with 64 percent of the total registered deaths in the province.

  • In Ilocos Sur, health professionals attended to 60 percent of the deaths in the province.

  • In Ilocos Norte, health professionals also attended to 54 percent of the deaths in the province while 3.3 percent of the deaths registered in Pangasinan were attended by health professionals.   

  • Among provinces, Pangasinan had the most number of deaths assisted by health professionals at 616 deaths. 

There were 34 corpses cremated in Ilocos Region this December 2020

  • Generally, corpses in the region were disposed through burial. This month, there were 3,071 corpses who were bureid.

  • Pangasinan had the most number of corpses buried while Ilocos Norte had the least number of buried corpses at 1,796 and .385, repectively.

  • Cremation is another option for corpse disposal. In the region, there were 34 corpses registered this December 2020.

  • Pangasinan registered twentt (20) cremated corpses while La Union listed fourteen (14) cremated corpses.
