(25 AUGUST 2021 – ILOCOS REGION) The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA – RSSO I) announced the preliminary results of the April and June 2021 Labor Force Survey (LFS) through a data dissemination forum conducted through videoconference.
Officer-in-Charge Atty. Sheila O. De Guzman reported the regional preliminary results of the April 2021 LFS and the preliminary results of the June 2021 LFS at the national level.
She reported that the region’s unemployment rate was registered at 7.5 percent in April 2021. This was lower by 14.8 percentage points from the unemployment rate in April 2020 at 22.3 percent.
She also said that the labor force participation rate of the region in April 2021 was posted at 60.8 percent. It decreased by 0.9 percentage points from the 61.7 percent labor force participation rate in April 2020.
Moreover, she mentioned that the employment rate in April 2021 was estimated at 92.5 percent. This was higher by 14.8 percentage points from the employment rate in the same period of the previous year of 77.7 percent.
Lastly, she stated that the underemployment rate was recorded at 17.7 percent in April 2021. This was lower by 3.0 percentage points from the underemployment rate recorded in the same period of the previous year of 20.7 percent.
The virtual data dissemination forum was attended by participants from Local Government Units, regional line agencies, academe and the media.
