October 2022 – Ilocos Region. After two years, the activities for the 33rd National Statistics Month in Ilocos Region will return to a face-to-face setup.

The 33rd NSM will carry the theme “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with Informed Decisions, Better Policies” which signifies the importance of informed decisions and better policies in pump-priming the country’s socioeconomic recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The regional celebration for the 33rd NSM will commence with the Opening Ceremony on 10 October 2022 at Bauang, La Union. Coinciding with the said event is the conduct of the Jingle Singing Contest for Secondary and Tertiary Levels. On the same day, the Digital and Onsite Statistical Exhibits will be unveiled to the public in San Fernando City, La Union. Various advocacy and IEC materials containing the latest statistics from regional line agencies will be made available to interested stakeholders.

Also returning to in-person events are the following NSM contests to be simultaneously conducted at different venues on 18 October 2022:

Poster-Slogan Making Contests (Secondary and Tertiary Levels), Oratorical Contests (Secondary and Tertiary Levels), Essay Writing Contests (Employee, Secondary and Tertiary Levels) and the Statistics Quiz (Students Category). Minimum health and safety protocols will be strictly observed during the said activities.

The four provinces in Ilocos Region will once again vie for the “33rd NSM Best Province Implementer” award. Members of the Technical Working Group committee on NSM will have an onsite validation of the local contests and activities of each province in the region. In addition, a round table discussion among the RSC I Technical Working Group Committee members is scheduled to determine this year’s winner.

The awarding of the regional winners and the announcement of the first recipient of the 1st Provincial Statistics Committee Award will be the highlights of the 33rd NSM Closing Ceremony on 28 October 2022.
