30 September 2021 – Ilocos Region. To officially kick off the month-long celebration of the 32nd National Statistics Month (NSM), the Regional Opening Ceremony is scheduled on 01 October 2021, 1:30 p.m.,  via videoconference. The said activity is in partnership  with the Department of Labor and Employment – Region I (DOLE – RO I).

The 32nd NSM adopts the theme – “NSM@32: Revving up for Economic and Social Recovery Through Evidence-Based Policies.” The theme accentuates the importance of statistics as bases for policy decisions to address the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19. 

It emphasizes that using relevant statistics as solid evidence will guide and support the nation’s efforts in navigating the pandemic towards socioeconomic recovery.

To cascade the regional contests to be conducted, guest speakers  from the Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA – RSSO I) will take part in various media guestings,  such as: “Danggayan iti PSA” with DZAG – Radyo Pilipinas Agoo  on 05 October 2021; “Kapihan sa Ilocos” with Philippine Information Agency – Region I on 06 October 2021; and “BeshyTaktakan”  with the Commission on Population and Development – Region I  on 08 October 2021. All interviews will be shared on the official Facebook page of PSA – RSSO I.

Weekly Statistical Webinars will be conducted to disseminate the latest reports and activities of regional line agencies and local government units that aim to address the challenges and negative impacts  of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the second time, regional contests such as the Digital Artwork Contests (Secondary and Tertiary Levels), Spoken Word Poetry Contests (Secondary and Tertiary Levels), Jingle Singing Contest (Secondary and Tertiary Levels), Essay Writing Contests (Employee, Secondary  and Tertiary Levels) and the Statistics Quiz (Employee Category) will be conducted in a virtual set-up in compliance with health and safety protocols by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases. 

The four provinces in Ilocos Region will once again vie for the “32nd NSM Best Province Implementer” award. Members of the Technical Working Group committee on NSM will have a virtual validation through attendance of provincial contests. In addition, a virtual round table discussion among the RSC I Technical Working Group Committee members is scheduled to determine this year’s winner.

The awarding of the regional winners will be the highlight of the 32nd NSM Closing Ceremony on 29 October 2021.
