According to the preliminary results of the 2022 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry, the transportation and storage Section recorded 63 establishments with a total of 2,321 workers. This indicates an average of 37 employees per establishment in 2022. Meanwhile, 44 employees per establishment were recorded in 2021.

The total establishment from 2021 to 2022 showed an increase of 21.2 percent. Meanwhile, the total employment also increased by 0.6 percent. (Figure 1)
In 2022, the transportation and storage section incurred PhP 963.59 million in total expense, higher by 16.2 percent than the PhP 829.07 million expense in 2021.
Meanwhile, the total recorded paid employees in 2022 was 2,251. This was higher by 12.4 percent compared to the 2,002 paid employees in 2021.

The total compensation paid by the transportation and storage section increased by 33.0 percent. The recorded data in 2022 was PhP 268.24 million and PhP 201.64 million in 2021.
In addition, the average annual compensation per paid employee was PhP 119.2 thousand in 2022 and PhP 100.7 thousand in 2021. This shows that the average annual compensation per paid employee in the Ilocos region increased by 18.3 percent.

The Ilocos Region’s transportation and storage section has a PhP 1.16 billion in total revenue, higher by 17.5 percent from PhP 988.51 million in 2021. In comparison, the revenue per expense ratio in 2022 was 1.21, higher than the 1.19 revenue per expense ratio in 2021.
