Residential buildings had the highest number of constructions

In 2025, there were 1,135 construction projects from approved building permits in the Ilocos Region. This indicates an increase of 8.9 percent from the 1,042 construction projects in January 2024. (Table 1)

Of the total construction projects, 829 were residential-type buildings accounting for 73.0 percent. Meanwhile, 253 were non-residential building constructions, which represents 22.3 percent of the overall total. On the other hand, alterations and repairs to existing constructions accounted for 30 building projects, or 2.7 percent. Lastly, addition to existing constructions and other construction projects, including street furniture and demolition, accounted for 23, or 2.0 percent. (Table 1)

Total value of construction amounts to PhP 2.20 billion

The total value of construction in January 2025 was PhP 2.20 billion, reflecting an increase of 2.4 percent from the PhP 2.14 billion value of constructions posted in the same month of the previous year. (Table 1)

The total value of construction of residential buildings reached PhP 1.07 billion, almost half of the total value of constructions in January 2025. Non-residential buildings were valued at PhP 1.07 billion, while additions to existing structures and other construction projects were valued at PhP 0.03 billion. Alteration and repair to existing constructions has the least valued at PhP 0.02 billion. (Table 1)
