Ilocos Region recorded a production of 569 metric tons from its inland municipal fisheries. This is lower than the 668 metric tons output in the fourth quarter of 2023.


The four provinces of the region posted decline in the volume of inland municipal production in the fourth quarter of 2024. Ilocos Norte decreased by 39.5 percent from 45 metric tons in fourth quarter 2023 to 27 metric tons in fourth quarter 2024. La Union has a production of 68 metric tons, lower by 24.4 percent than its output in fourth quarter 2023. Likewise, the production of Ilocos Sur went down by 17.9 percent from 175 metric tons in fourth quarter 2023 to 144 metric tons in fourth quarter 2024. Moreover, Pangasinan decreased by 7.8 percent from its output of 358 metric tons in fourth quarter 2023.

Among the provinces, Pangasinan has the highest contribution to the region’s inland municipal fisheries production with 58.0 percent share. Ilocos Sur followed with a share of 25.3 percent, and La Union with 11.9 percent. Ilocos Norte has the least share of 4.8 percent to the total inland municipal fisheries production of the region in fourth quarter 2024.

Freshwater goby topped the inland municipal catch in the fourth quarter of 2024. Its production was at 83 metric tons which comprised 14.6 percent of the total inland municipal production of the region. Tilapia followed with 35 metric tons or 6.2 percent of the total production. Milkfish recorded 28 metric tons during the period and shared 4.9 percent to the overall production of the inland municipal fisheries during the fourth quarter of 2024.
