In first quarter 2025, Ilocos Region recorded a production of 508 metric tons from its inland municipal fisheries. This is lower than the 572 metric tons output in the first quarter of 2024.
Ilocos Region shared 1.0 percent of the total national inland production of 52,630 metric tons in the first quarter of 2025.


The volume of production in inland municipal fisheries production in all the provinces of the region declined in first quarter 2025. Pangasinan decreased to 309 metric tons or 11.3 percent from 348 metric tons in first quarter 2024. La Union, registered a production of 100 metric tons, lower by 14.8 percent than its output in first quarter 2024. Likewise, the production of Ilocos Sur went down by 3.1 percent from 72 metric tons in first quarter 2024 to 70 metric tons in first quarter 2025. Moreover, Ilocos Norte decreased by 14.0 percent from its output of 34 metric tons in first quarter 2024.

Among the provinces, Pangasinan has the highest contribution to the region’s inland municipal fisheries production in first quarter 2025 with 60.8 percent share. La Union followed with a share of 19.7 percent, and Ilocos Sur with 13.8 percent. Ilocos Norte has the least share of 5.7 percent to the total inland municipal fisheries production of the region in first quarter 2025.

Milkfish has the largest contribution in inland municipal catch in first quarter 2025 with a production of 99 metric tons comprising 19.5 percent of the total. The output was lower than the 157 metric tons recorded in first quarter 2024. Oyster registered a production of 52 metric from 50 metric tons in the same quarter of 2024. It shared 10.3 percent to the total inland municipal production of the region. Freshwater shrimp recorded 40 metric tons during the period and shared 7.8 percent of the overall production of the region during the first quarter 2025. The output was lower than the 44 metric tons production in first quarter 2024. Likewise, tilapia and mullet shared 7.5 percent and 5.8 percent, respectively, in the total production of inland municipal fisheries in first quarter 2025.
