The corn production of the Ilocos Region in 2024 is 581,738 metric tons, a 2.1 percent drop from last year’s 594,407 metric tons of harvested corn. Ilocos Region remains fifth among the regions of the country in terms of corn production in 2024, accounting for 7.1 percent of the national production.

Likewise, the harvest area of corn decreased by 2.4 percent from 99,593 hectares in 2023 to 97,176 hectares in 2024. However, the resulting yield increased by 0.3 percent from the previous year. The yield per hectare was 5.99 metric tons in 2024 and 5.97 metric tons in 2023.

Among the regions, the Ilocos Region ranked first in terms of yield per hectare in 2024. Being ranked second in 2023, it surpassed Central Luzon, which was previously the top in 2024.

According to type, yellow corn contributed 93.0 percent of the total corn production in Ilocos Region, while 7.0 percent was shared by white corn.

Pangasinan contributed 63.5 percent of the region’s corn production in 2024. The total harvest in 2024 was at 369,102 metric tons, lower than the 369,118 metric tons harvest in 2023. The area harvested went down by 0.5 percent, from 60,049 hectares in 2023 to 59,745 hectares in 2024. The yield per hectare, however, increased by 0.5 percent from 6.15 metric tons in 2023 to 6.18 metric tons in 2024.
Ilocos Sur had the second largest share in the corn production of the region. It registered a harvest of 103,602 metric tons which accounts for 17.8 percent of the total production of the region. This output was lower by 12.1 percent from the 117,857 metric tons production in 2023. Similarly, harvest area went down from 20,215 hectares in 2023 to 17,985 hectares in 2024. The yield per hectare was also reduced from 5.83 metric tons to 5.76 metric tons.

Ilocos Norte recorded a share of 12.0 percent in the total corn production of the region. From 68,425 metric tons in 2023, the harvest grew by 2.2 percent, or 69,919 metric tons in 2024. The area harvested also expanded by 1.0 percent from 12,237 hectares in 2023 to 12,359 hectares in 2024. The yield per hectare went up by 1.2 percent from 5.59 metric tons to 5.66 metric tons.
Lastly, La Union comprised 6.7 percent of the region’s corn production in 2024. This was equal to 39,116 metric tons harvest, or a 0.3 percent increase from the 39,007 metric tons production in 2023. On the other hand, harvest area decreased by 0.1 percent from 7,092 in 2023 to 7,087 in 2024. The yield per hectare improved from 5.50 metric tons to 5.52 metric tons.
