The annual average consumer price index (CPI) in La Union in 2019 was 113.1, the highest recorded since the rebasing in 2012. In 2018, the average CPI in the province was registered at 111.8 which indicate a 1.3 percentage point increase between the two-year period. The number of registered marriages in La Union increased by 0.27 percent from its level in 2018 which was 4,049 to 4,038 in 2019. Eleven out of twenty municipalities have decreased number of registered marriages in 2019 compared with their 2018 figures. The top three municipalities that posted the highest decrease were Luna from 263 to 169 (-35.74%), Sudipen from 98 to 80 (-18.37%) and Aringay from 256 to 224 (-12.50%). On the contrary, the biggest increase in the number of registered marriages in the province was noted in Burgos from 42 to 67 marriages (59.52%). The number of registered live births in La Union in 2019 summed up to 13,831, an increase of 4.78 percent birth occurrences compared to 13,200 registered live births in 2018. The daily average birth occurrence in 2019 was computed at 38 or an average of two babies born per hour.
