The volume of palay production in La Union increased by 6.02 percent in 2019 at 169,054 metric tons compared with the production in 2018 of 159,450 metric tons. La Union had the least percentage share in terms of palay production among the provinces in Region I. Its share was 9.13 percent of the Region’s total volume of palay production of 1.85 million metric tons. Pangasinan had the biggest proportion with 59.66 percent share, followed by Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur with 17.81 percent and 13.40 percent shares respectively.Read more about Palay and Corn Situation in La Union 2018 and 2019

La Union’s total volume of fishery production in 2019 was 11,462.71 metric tons.It shows an increase of 9.02 percent from the production a year ago of 10,513.88 metric tons. By subsector, aquaculture remained as the main source of fishery production in the province for both 2018 and 2019 with a share of 74.39 percent (7,821.34 metric tons) and 65.07 percent (7,459.28 metric tons) respectively. The Philippine Statistics Authority La Union Provincial Statistical Office is targeting to push through the conduct of the 2020 Census Population and Housing (CPH) on September 1, 2020. The field operation for the 2020 CPH is originally scheduled on May 4, 2020 but due to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the country the enumeration has been postponed.Read more about PSA La Union Targets to Push Through with the 2020 Census of Population and Housing

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in La Union in April 2020 was posted at 115.2.This means that on the average, prices of goods and services in the province have increased by 15.2 percent from the base year 2012.
