Palay production in La Union declined by 19.2 percent in first quarter 2019 at 23,255 metric tons compared with the production in the same period of 2018 at 28,776 metric tons. Among the four provinces of Region I, La Union had the smallest share in terms of volume of palay production. The poverty incidence among Filipino families in La Union in the first semester of 2018 was estimated at 3.7 percent. This figure is relatively low as it went down to a single digit from its double digit level in first semester 2015 at 19.0 percent.
