Based on the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN2015), the municipality of San Gabriel, La Union posted a total population of 18,166 persons as of August 1, 2015. This is an increase of 1,538persons over the total population of 16,628 persons in 2010 CPH. The increase in the population count from 2010 to 2015 translated to an average annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.70 percent. Palay production in La Union declined by 19.2 percent in first quarter 2019 at 23,255 metric tons compared with the production in the same period of 2018 at 28,776 metric tons. Among the four provinces of Region I, La Union had the smallest share in terms of volume of palay production.
