PSA-RSSO I hosted the first quarter meeting of the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) on February 19, 2016 at PSA Conference Room, San Fernando City, La Union. The meeting was attended in by 90.4 percent of the total number of member agencies. It was presided by the chairman, Director Nestor G. Rillon of NEDA-Region I with Vice-Chairman, Director Socrates L. Ramores of PSA.
As the policymaking body on statistical matters at the local level, the RSC meeting served as the venue for the discussion and resolution of statistical issues and activities in the region. During the meeting two resolutions were approved concerning the additional member agencies/institutions in the RSC and the approval of the Regional Statistical Development Program (RSDP) of Region I.
Ms. Zenaida L. Garcillan, Statistical Specialist of PSA RSSO I, presented the highlights of the 26th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in the region. The committee members gave recommendations to further improve the celebration of the NSM and promote the importance of statistics in the region. Engr. Arturo S. De Sola, OIC of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) of PSA RSSO I, on the other hand presented the plans for the up-coming National Convention on Statistics (NCS) on October 3-4, 2016 to be held at EDSA Shangri-la Hotel.
Director Ramores also presented the updates on the formulation of indicators to monitor the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Moreover, Mr. Nino Tuazon, Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSA RSSO I, presented the various activities of the PSA which include the conduct of the Labor Force Survey, Family Income and Expenditure Survey and the Civil Registration Month celebration.
