Construction Statistics from Approved Building Permits Third Quarter 2021: Ilocos Region (Preliminary Results)

Construction statistics of the llocos Region are based on approved building permits on new constructions and additions, alterations and repairs of existing residential and non-residential buildings, and other structures, which are proposed to be constructed in the cities and municipalities of the country in a specific period.

Construction projects decreased to 2,589 in the third quarter ot 2021

The total number of approved building permits in the third quarter 2021 reached 2,589. Residential-type buildings with 2,027 construction projects shared 78.29 percent to the overall total. The combined number of additions, alterations and repairs contributed 5.64 percent with 146 construction projects, while the nonresidential buildings contributed 16.07 percent to the total number of approved building permits with 416 construction projects.

Pangasinan recorded the highest number of construction projects

Among the four provinces of the llocos Region, Pangasinan recorded the highest number of construction projects with 824 accounting for 31.83 percent of the total number of construction projects. !locos Norte followed with 728 construction projects or 28.12 percent share, llocos Sur has 523 construction projects while La Union has 514. These two provinces shared 20.20 percent and 19.85 percent, respectively, to the total approved construction projects in third quarter 2021.

Total value of construction amounts to PhP3,449.8 million

The total value of constructions from approved building permits in Ilocos Region accumulated to PhP3,449.8 million in llocos Region for the third quarter 2021.

By type of construction projects, the value amounted to PhP2,456.4 million, while amounted to PhP926.2 million. of residential non-residential buildings buildings

The combined value of additions, alterations, and repairs of existing structures was PhP67.2 million.

Single houses comprised 97.93 percent of the residential buildings

Single houses recorded the highest number of construction projects with 1,985 accounting for 97.93 percent of the total residential buildings. ApartmenUaccessoria ranked second with 34 residential construction projects representing 1.68 percent of the total residential construction. Duplex houses recorded 8 construction projects accounting for 0.39 percent.

Average cost per square meter of residential building construction is PhP2,456.4

The total value of construction for residential buildings was about PhP2,456.4 million with a total floor area of 23,817 square meters, translating to an average cost of PhP10,328.9 per square meter.

The total value of construction for single{ype residential houses reached PhP2,156 million covering a total floor area of 201,378 square meters, translating to an average cost of PhP10,706.1 per square meter.

ApartmenUaccessoria houses recorded a total construction of PhP100.8 million and a total floor area of 9,838 square or an average cost of PhP10,245.8 per square meter.

Duplex had an estimated construction value of PhP199.6 million with a total floor area of 26,601 square meters, translating to an average cost of PhP7504.6 per square meter.

Commercial buildings recorded 74.04 percent of the total non-residential buildings

Commercial buildings had the highest number of constructions with 308 projects or 74.04 percent of the total non-residential constructions. lnstitutional buildings ranked second with 50 construction projects sharing 12.01 percent. Agricultural buildings followed with 23 construction projects representing 5.53 percent, while lndustrial buildings recorded 21 construction projects or 5.05 percent. Other non-residential buildings contributed 14 construction projects or has 3.37 percent share to the total non-residential constructions in third quarter 2021.

Value of non-residential building constructions reached PhP926.2 million

The total value of non-residential building constructions in the llocos Region reached PhP926.2 million with a total floor area of 91 ,597 square meters, reflecting an average cost of PhP10,112.7 per square meter.

Commercial buildings had the highest value amounting to PhP484.8 million. It has a total floor area of 53,443 square meters with an average cost of PhPg,072.23 per square meter.

lnstitutional buildings followed with a value of PhP313.6 million and a total floor area of 22,203 square meters with an average cost of PhPl 4,126.11 per square meter.

lndustrial buildings had a value of construction estamated at PhP93.8 million covering a total floor area of 10,813 square meters or an average cost of PhP8,674 per square meter.

Agricultural buildings ranked fourth with a total construction of PhP25.9 million and a total floor area of 5,1 38 square with an average cost of PhPS,042.20 per square meter.

Other non-residential buildings accounted the least value of about PhP8.0 million.
