In first semester of 2018, a family of five needed no less than PhP 7,512, on the average, to meet the family’s basic food needs for a month in Ilocos Region. This amount is the food threshold. On the other hand, no less than PhP 10,684, on the average, was needed to meet both basic food and non-food needs of a family of five in a month in the region. This amount is the poverty threshold. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) conducts the second level training on systems for the generation of Consumer Price Index (CPI) on September 17 to 19, 2019 at Marand Resort and Spa, Baccuit Sur, Bauang, La Union. The preliminary results of the Annual Labor and Employment Estimates for 2018 based on the average of the four Labor Force Survey rounds (January, April, July and October) reported an annual labor force participation of 61.7 percent out of 3.5 million population 15 years old and over in Ilocos Region. This is equivalent to about 2.2 million economically active population comprising of either employed or unemployed persons.Read more about Ilocos Region’s employment rate estimated at 93.2% in 2018

The number of registered live births in Ilocos Region during the second quarter of 2019 summed up to 23,018, a slight increase of 1.5 percent compared to 22,668 births on the same period of 2018. The daily average birth occurrence during the second quarter of 2019 was computed at 253 births or an average of 10 babies born per hour. The month of May 2019 was observed to have the highest average daily births at 272 babies. The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office I (PSA-RSSO I) conducts the second level training on 2019 Integrated Census Map Updating Activity on July 29 to August 10, 2019 at Dagupan Village Hotel, Lucao District, City of Dagupan, Pangasinan.
